This Principal Architect of IT Data & Analytics is responsible for defining and driving strategy for platform and software architecture, whether on-premise or in the cloud, and critical technologies for the Data and Analytics organization. As an individual contributor, this role will require working with cross-disciplinary teams to design state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions and enable emerging capabilities in data and analytics ecosystem. This role will play an imperative role in a data-driven cultural transformation for the organization and will enable the right practices and framework to automate and accelerate the strategic use of analytics throughout Wabtec.

The Principal Architect of IT Data & Analytics must have proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and a knowledge of data integration and reporting best practices critical to successfully performing this role.
- Duties and Responsibilities:_
- Work with D&A Leadership to define strategic and tactical roadmaps for data platforms, BI and analytics technologies.
- Define cloud strategy and architecture for Data and Analytics expansion in various clouds such as AWS, Azure, and Oracle, aligned with IT Cyber Security & Risk guidelines.
- Manage big data governance framework and self-service governance in the Wabtec Data Lake environment.
- Responsible for defining architecture and capabilities in Data Lake environment and for data products.
- Enable data science capabilities and manage framework for managing AI/ML models.
- Ensure data platform vitality and help the Director of Data Operations to improve operation efficiency.
- Responsible for data ingestion and data engineering framework in Data Lake environment.
- Maintain strong partnership with Enterprise platform, security, network and other technology teams.
- Collaborate with multiple teams including enterprise architecture, data governance, compliance and business stakeholders.
- Drive a culture of compliance and agility.

- Minimum Qualifications_

- University degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- This position requires a minimum of 12-15 years’ experience, with 4-5 years of hands-on experience in the AWS and Data Lake technologies
- Minimum 8 years of experience with data and solution architecture
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:_
- Advanced skills in AWS data and analytics tech stack: EMR, Redshift, Glue and Athena and with AWS compute and storage tech stack: EC2, S3, EBS, EFS, Lambda and RDS
- Experience with designing data warehouse solution and data modeling best practices.
- Experience as a platform architect in cloud platform with expertise in emerging and data platform technologies.
- Experience as a solution architect to design and deliver data products.
- Hands-on with programming languages - Python and Spark.
- Experience in deploying AI/ML models.
- Experience in DevOps practices using Terraform, Chef, Gitlab and Jenkins.
- Experience in delivering migration projects for data, platform and technology.
- Provide strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions or remediations.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business priorities.
- Strong analytical, creative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills.
