Job Description: Librarian

**Position Title**: Librarian
**Department**: Admin
**Location**: EuroSchool HSR, Bangalore
**Reporting To**: Vice - Principal

Overview:
Key Responsibilities:

- **Library Management**:

- Organize and maintain the library collection, ensuring it is up-to-date and relevant.
- Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
- Manage the library budget, including purchasing books, resources, and supplies.
- Maintain an orderly and welcoming environment in the library.
- **Resource Acquisition and Cataloging**:

- Select, acquire, and catalog new books, periodicals, multimedia resources, and other materials.
- Manage the library database, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records of all materials.
- **Student and Staff Support**:

- Assist students and staff in locating and selecting appropriate materials.
- Provide reference and research assistance to students and staff.
- Conduct library orientation sessions for new students and staff.
- **Educational Programs and Activities**:

- Plan and implement reading programs, book clubs, and other library-related activities.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
- Organize author visits, book fairs, and other events to promote reading and literacy.
- **Technology Integration**:

- Manage and update the library’s digital resources and online catalog.
- Teach students and staff how to effectively use online databases and other digital resources.
- Stay current with emerging library technologies and incorporate them into the library’s offerings.
- **Supervision and Training**:

- Supervise library assistants and volunteers.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for library staff.
- **Community Engagement**:

- Foster a love of reading and lifelong learning within the school community.
- Build partnerships with local libraries, bookstores, and literary organizations.
- Promote the library’s services and programs through newsletters, social media, and other communication channels.

Qualifications:

- **Education**: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a librarian, preferably in a school setting.
- **Skills**:

- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in library management software and digital resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and the community.
- Passion for reading and promoting literacy.

Additional Requirements:

- A strong understanding of child development and the ability to engage with children of all ages.
- Creativity in planning programs and activities to promote reading and literacy.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with library trends and technology.

Pay: From ₹35,000.00 per month
