Cosmetics Formulation Chemist

This is not a lab position. You will be working from home.

Our company brings about 20 new/reformulated/repackaged consumer personal care products to the US and EU mass market each month. Products fall within the skincare, haircare, bath/body, aromatherapy, and other wellness categories.

We are seeking an experienced Chemist with a proven history of developing budget friendly and safe products for the general/mass consumer market and familiar with US and EU regulatory requirements.

You must also be up to date with current and upcoming trending ingredients and its efficacy to solving or controlling everyday issues.

You must have awareness of ingredient costs and be able to substitute for better ingredients at the same or lower cost in current or new recommended formulations proposed by external R&D teams.

You must be familiar with all the prohibitive ingredients in the various markets we sell and ingredients that’s consumers are pushing away and are critical of on social media and the web.
- **Job description**:_
- You have an extensive understanding of North American and EU cosmetics regulations.
- Maintain a pulse on changing consumer trends, gather business and market insights/trends, translating those into new product opportunities.
- Constantly thinking of how to improve sales performance from a new user, new channels, new products, or new packaging perspective.
- Support sales team to drive continued growth of existing and new business by providing a line map of new upcoming products.
- Conceptualize new products or improved formulas from ideation to commercialization each month in line with monthly targets.
- Define and set specifications for new or reformulated products being developed and manufactured at 3rd Party R&D Labs and factories.
- Implement testing requirements for toxicology assessments, stability and preservative efficacy testing, microbial investigations and etc.
- Create MSDS, Maintain Product information files, ingredients COA/MSDS review, verify full formula specifications; and on the packaging and product label verify cautions / warnings, instructions, storage conditions, and etc.
- Support all documentation requirements for product registration in respective markets and ensure the correct use of product claims on packaging within destination country regulations.
- Maintain strict attention to detail and accurate documentation record-keeping.
- Critically assess timelines with 3rdParty R&D labs and manufacturers to ensure company goals and datelines are maintained for product delivery.
- Evaluate 3rd Party R&D Labs and Manufacturer’s capacities, capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Other tasks as required per business needs.

- Experienced in the personal care product development field with a passion for creativity.
- Expert in cosmetics compliance requirements for EU, US FDA.
- Ability to anticipate and stay ahead of problems.
- Ability to handle multiple products while meeting product delivery datelines.
- Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
- Good understanding of CGMP.
- Bachelors or master’s degree in chemistry, Cosmetic Sciences, Formulation Technology or M/B Tech in Cosmetics Technology.
