Database Administrator

If selected, you will report to the Database Administration you will:

- perform the full range of database administration (DBA) tasks.
- Development of the automation of routine DBA processes.
- have a voice in decisions made about new database technologies.

**Responsibilities**
- Install, configure, and maintain database servers as needed
- Perform backups, recoveries, and other database maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot database error messages, connection errors, and incidents of poor performance
- Enhance and support the architecture for high availability and disaster recovery
- Automate reactive and proactive tasks to provide better service and improved DBA efficiency
- Integrate new technologies such as cloud databases into the environment
- Administer Denodo Platform (data virtualization server)
- Continue to develop your DBA skills and information technology knowledge
- Perform similar database administration tasks for databases residing on Linux

You have at least 5 years of database experience plus a good understanding of Windows Server and networking. You thrive on the challenges of new problems and new technologies presented by DBA work.

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience
- A minimum of five years’ experience in database administration on Windows for the Senior position
- Experience performing database backups, recoveries, monitoring and tuning, installation, and patching
- Experience diagnosing and resolving database issues and other problems creatively and collaboratively
- Able to manage competing priorities and complete work in a timely manner
- Able to write clear documentation for technical and non-technical audiences

**Desired Qualifications**
- Experience developing PowerShell or Python scripts to automate DBA tasks
- Experience with SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances or Always On availability groups
- Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Idera or Redgate
- Experience with Git and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Experience with aspects of Windows administration such as file sharing, group policy, or Active Directory
- Experience with data virtualization or business intelligence tools
- Familiarity with VMware virtualization environments
- Experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform
- Knowledge of IT Service Management concepts or experience with JIRA
