Production Supervisor

**Job Title**: Production Supervisor - Steel & Metal Industry

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Supervision and Leadership**: Direct and supervise production staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and guidance. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- **Production Management**: Oversee daily production activities to ensure that production targets and schedules are met. Coordinate with planning and logistics to align production schedules with demand and supply.
- **Quality Assurance**: Ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications. Conduct regular inspections and work with the quality control team to address and resolve any quality issues.
- **Safety Compliance**: Ensure that all production activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
- **Equipment Maintenance**: Monitor the condition of production equipment and coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance. Ensure that machinery is operating safely and efficiently.
- **Reporting**: Maintain accurate production records and prepare reports on production performance, including output, downtime, quality, and safety metrics. Present findings to senior management and recommend actions for improvement.
- **Team Development**: Provide coaching and development opportunities for production staff. Conduct performance evaluations and support career development within the team.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- **Experience**: 5+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in the steel and metal industry.
- **Technical Skills**: Knowledge of production management software, ERP systems, and familiarity with manufacturing processes in the steel and metal industry. Proficiency in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
- **Leadership Skills**: Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to motivate and lead a diverse team in a fast-paced production environment.
- **Analytical Skills**: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to analyze production data and identify trends and areas for improvement.
- **Communication Skills**: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly with team members, other departments, and senior management.
- **Organizational Skills**: Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

**Working Conditions**:

- **Environment**: This position will primarily be based in a steel and metal manufacturing plant. Some time will be spent in an office environment for planning and reporting tasks.
- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work in high-temperature environments and lift and move heavy equipment as needed.
- **Work Hours**: Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet production demands.
