The Platform Operations department within Elsevier is responsible for ensuring that Secondary electronic content is correctly processed, loaded and available on Elsevier's product websites for the end user customers.

The Content Expert is a team member of the Content support team within the Platform Operations department and is mainly responsible for content management. The Content Expert manages content on Elsevier's external websites for customers such as Scopus, and content in systems (internal users).

The Content Expert is responsible for creating new workflows and to analyze and correct current workflows to ensure they are in line with Platform Ops standards.

The Content Expert maintains contact with other Data Operations departments and Product Managers related to the creation of workflows.

The Content Expert will be engaged in new and existing projects to implement new workflows or optimize existing workflows based upon business requirements. They are also responsible for the maintenance of documents and directs the documentation of workflows and instructions for suppliers. Ensure compliance with law (e.g. copyright and data protection). Identify customers' needs and gaps in our content processes and recommend new ideas. Manage a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment, while remaining flexible and positive.

Be a member of the strategic quality squad and be responsible for any key decisions related to content quality and improvement. Provide timely performance feedback with operational manager(s) in loop. Effectively present the progress made with the ability to give a thorough high level overview to stakeholders & other related parties

Data Improvement responsibilities

1. Create and maintain documents and workflow instructions for suppliers.

2. Create code (XML) in order to use new format sources (when source format changes or is new) to create and validate data.

3. Create and/or provide input and process instructions to Supplier Managers and/or instruct external suppliers directly in cases with high level of urgency. These instructions are part of general Supplier Instruction documents (Supplier Gateway).

4. Provide and develop solutions to new identified content errors and existing errors.

Functional & Technical Competencies

Thorough familiarity with requirements for content to move smoothly through publishing process internally or with vendors.

Must have proven ability to work collaboratively with vendors and internal stakeholders.

High comfort level and experience with technology.

Facility with MS office packages and internet research. Understanding databases used for data capture and enhancements)

Know how skills required

MS Office Applications, SQL, Lean Six Sigma knowledge

Database concepts

Scripting languages XML, HTML.
