The STP Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining sewage treatment plant systems to ensure the effective treatment of wastewater. They monitor and control equipment such as pumps, valves, and filtration systems during the primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment processes. Operators perform regular water quality tests (e.g., pH, turbidity, BOD) and adjust chemical dosages to meet regulatory standards. Routine maintenance on machinery, including cleaning and repairing equipment.

The operator ensures the safe handling and disposal of sludge and other by products while adhering to environmental regulations. They must quickly troubleshoot and address any equipment malfunctions or emergency situations. The role requires maintaining accurate records of plant operations, test results, and maintenance logs. STP operators also ensure compliance with safety protocols, participate in safety drills, and provide guidance and training to junior staff. The operator must work in shifts, including evenings and weekends, and respond promptly to any operational issues. Ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental protection is a critical part of their duties.
