**Job Summary**:
The School Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment throughout the school campus. This role ensures that all electrical systems operate safely and efficiently, supporting the daily activities and safety of students, staff, and visitors.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Electrical Maintenance**:

- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
- Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical issues, ensuring prompt and effective repairs.
- **Installation and Upgrades**:

- Install new electrical systems, components, and equipment in classrooms, offices, and other school facilities as needed.
- Upgrade or replace outdated electrical fixtures and systems to ensure safety and compliance.
- **Safety Compliance**:

- Ensure all electrical work adheres to local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and mitigate electrical hazards, maintaining a safe environment.
- **Emergency Response**:

- Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and resolve issues to minimize disruption.
- Implement temporary solutions and follow up with permanent repairs as necessary.
- **Preventive Maintenance**:

- Develop and carry out a preventive maintenance schedule to extend the life of electrical systems and reduce the likelihood of malfunctions.
- Maintain an inventory of electrical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for maintenance and repairs.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Keep accurate records of work performed, including repairs, installations, and maintenance activities.
- Report any major electrical issues or system upgrades needed to the Facilities Manager or School Administrator.
- **Collaboration**:

- Work with other school maintenance staff on larger repair or renovation projects.
- Assist with other building maintenance tasks as required, ensuring the school’s operational efficiency.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Electrician (Journeyman or equivalent certification preferred).
- Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in a school or similar institutional setting.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and relevant safety standards.

**Skills**:

- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
