Be part of the architect team to shape, detail, and drive architecture for one a very important area in Shell The segment includes the solutions that support Shell’s Manage Indirect Tax (MIT) business processes, which totals $48Bn of tax collected from our customers per annum.

The Tax Business organization is on a journey to realize its Tax Control Room vision of touchless, exception-based tax calculation and filing processes, supported by dashboards and workflows to manage the process. And with Data Analytics and Data Insights that enable Continuous Improvement.

You will work in APD architecture team that is also supporting the ERP Transformation to S4/HANA through several programs (CFIN, ADC and DDC), and will be able to contribute to these from a Finance & Tax perspective.

Your emphasis will be on providing architecture direction for data, technology and security fully connected to process, capabilities, and the organization. You will have an end-to-end eye for the business solutions required, by providing a high quality and understandable architecture aligned with standards and properly documented to ensure this provides insides on enterprise scale.

**What’s the role?**

As a Segment Architect, you will have a strong technical background of implementing complex and robust enterprise-wide architectures and will be expected to work the relationship angle as well as be the designer. This is a key requirement of the role. This relationship aspect has multiple dimensions: BI managers, DV and competency-centred leaders, other Class of Business Architects, Group Architects, and project teams.

Your other accountabilities are as follows:

- Advise and give input to development of domain IT strategy.
- Develop and maintain segment architecture including target selections.
- Ensure architecture artifact quality and retention in appropriate tools
- Guide and support project teams and solution architects on the use of segment and reference architectures. Provide, or make available through others, technical expertise and support to project and support personnel on IT matters in the portfolio.
- Participate in governance processes, e.g., assurance review and signoff, and share all relevant needed documentation. Participate as required at the Architecture Review Board and relevant IT Leadership Teams.
- Facilitate Architecture Risk Assessments on projects, and conduct Assurance Reviews and Stage Gate signoff for medium and low risk projects, involving data, technical and integration architects as needed
- Participate in and contribute to the Line of Business segment architecture network.
- Provide support to Solution Architects, including overall development and coordination of solution architects working in the portfolio (e.g., coaching, mentoring, input on resourcing decisions.)
- Maintain knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, including data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR), and ensure that those are included in architecture strategy and design decisions.
- Proactively review segment portfolio with ITM and business to maintain the alignment on how personal data is managed and handled properly.
- Lead natural teams towards increasing value and decreasing risk of data.
- You will actively influence the definition of the strategy and the planning of investments.

**What we need from you**

As Segment Architects, you would have the following skills/expertise:

- Extensive years of experience in digital and IT with significant years of business-focused digital and some IT leadership experience. You have a proven track record of digital and IT architecture impact and success.
- Stakeholder engagement is key to this role, in the broadest sense. Being sensitive to stakeholders, talking the right ‘language’ to specific target groups, and leading by example are crucial to the role. Being extremely curious about your own space, but also to the adjacent and outside world, and being able to translate that into actionable outcomes is another skill that need to be strongly present.

Crucially you will:

- Know the TOGAF standards and understand the Shell Architecture Framework and be able to explain the role of architecture in IT processes/organisation
- Understand segment architecture and its link to portfolio management and platforms
- Know the Target Operating Environment (TOE)
- Know relevant IRM standards for Architecture and understand how to use the standards
