A hospital electrician's responsibilities include:

- **Maintenance and repairs**: Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a hospital's electrical systems, generators, and lighting
- **Diagnosing problems**: Identify and fix malfunctions in equipment and circuits
- **Safety**: Ensure that electrical systems are safe and meet electrical power requirements
- **Emergency response**: Respond to power outages and test and maintain emergency electrical equipment
- **Patient safety**: Follow protocols to ensure patient health and safety
- **Inspections**: Perform periodic inspections of electrical services, including wiring, panels, and breakers
- **Estimates**: Provide estimates for repairs and replacements

Hospital electricians typically work indoors, but may occasionally work outside. They should have knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and relevant codes. They should also be able to work well individually and as part of a team.
