**Role description**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Database Management & Maintenance**:

- Install, configure, and upgrade **DB2 database software** on platforms such as **z/OS** and **LUW**.
- Manage database instances, schemas, and database objects (tables, indexes, stored procedures).
- Perform database **backup, recovery**, and **disaster recovery** using **DB2** tools.
- **Performance Optimization & Monitoring**:

- Monitor **database performance** and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
- Diagnose and resolve **performance bottlenecks** and **connectivity issues**.
- Implement and manage **database security**, including **user access control** and **auditing**.
- **Collaboration & Support**:

- Support database-related issues during **development**, **testing**, and **production** phases.
- Review **SQL code** to ensure **performance optimization** and adherence to **standards**.
- **Capacity Planning & Reporting**:

- Monitor **database growth** and plan for **capacity requirements** to align with business needs.
- Analyze system usage and recommend **scaling** or **upgrades**.
- Generate **regular reports** on **database health**, **performance**, and **usage metrics**.
- **Compliance & Documentation**:

- Maintain detailed **documentation** of database configurations, processes, and procedures.

**Qualifications and Skills**:
**Required Skills**:

- Expertise in **IBM DB2 database administration** on **z/OS** or **LUW** platforms.
- Proficiency in **SQL**, **performance tuning**, and **database optimization** techniques.
- Experience with **DB2 utilities** (e.g., **RUNSTATS**, **REORG**, **LOAD**, **UNLOAD**).
- Strong knowledge of **backup**, **recovery**, and **disaster recovery** strategies.
- Understanding of **database security** and **compliance** best practices.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience with **database replication** and **high-availability** solutions (e.g., **HADR**).
- Knowledge of **automation** tools and **scripting** languages (e.g., **Shell**, **Python**).
- Familiarity with **monitoring tools** (e.g., **IBM Data Studio**, third-party solutions).
- Exposure to **DevOps** practices and database integration within **CI/CD pipelines**.

**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in **Computer Science**, **Information Technology**, or a related field.
- **5+ years** of hands-on experience as a **DB2 DBA** in a **production environment**.
- **IBM Certified Database Administrator** or equivalent certification (preferred).
