A Catering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation and sometimes the service of food and beverages at catered events. They are responsible for keeping track of deliveries, hiring and managing event staff, setting up the event space and providing supervision while the event is taking place.

**Responsibilities**:
Catering Supervisors are responsible for a wide range of tasks. Their primary responsibilities include:

- **Negotiating contracts and deadlines with clients**- A Catering Supervisor will work closely with clients to coordinate and plan all facets of the catering services.
- **Hiring and training staff**- A Catering Supervisor will be responsible for recruiting and training event staff, such as servers, bartenders, cooks, and clean-up crews.
- **Organizing event space**- A Catering Supervisor will arrange event space layout, design, and furnishings based on a client’s needs and budget.
- **Managing food and beverage deliveries**- A Catering Supervisor must keep track of deliveries to ensure the event is properly stocked with refreshments.
- **Overseeing event production**- A Catering Supervisor will supervise event production, ensuring all services are performed correctly.

Qualifications and Skills

Catering Supervisors should have excellent organizational and people skills as well as a strong knowledge of food and beverage. The following qualifications and skills are beneficial for this position:

- **Excellent customer service skills**- As a Catering Supervisor you will need to work directly with clients, making sure their event is as perfect as possible.
- **Experience in food service management**- A Catering Supervisor must have experience in managing food and beverage operations.
- **Knowledge of food safety regulations**- A Catering Supervisor must understand food safety requirements and how to follow them.
- **Payroll and timekeeping experience**- A Catering Supervisor must be able to keep track of staff hours and correctly administer payroll.
- **Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills**- Because Catering Supervisors are tasked with making on-the-fly decisions it is important that they are able to make quick, informed decisions.
