**Job Title: Chemist - Fertilizer Plant**

**Job Summary**:
As a Chemist in a fertilizer manufacturing plant, you will be responsible for overseeing the chemical processes involved in the production of fertilizers. You will ensure that raw materials are correctly processed, the quality of the finished products meets company standards, and safety protocols are followed. You will also contribute to research and development of new fertilizer products.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Chemical Process Monitoring & Optimization**:

- Monitor and manage chemical reactions involved in fertilizer production, including ammonia synthesis, phosphoric acid production, and potassium compound processing.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, efficiency, and safety.
- **Quality Control & Testing**:

- Perform regular tests on raw materials (e.g., nitrogen sources, phosphates, potassium salts) and final fertilizer products to ensure they meet quality standards (nutrient content, purity, and consistency).
- Record and analyze data from quality checks, ensuring compliance with industry and safety standards.
- **Safety & Compliance**:

- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements in all chemical processes.
- Supervise safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals used in fertilizer production.
- **Research and Development**:

- Assist in the development of new fertilizer formulations or more efficient production methods.
- Conduct trials to test the performance and environmental impact of new fertilizer products.
- **Troubleshooting**:

- Identify and resolve issues in the production process, including deviations in chemical reactions, equipment malfunctions, and quality inconsistencies.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain detailed records of chemical processes, test results, and safety compliance reports.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding process improvements, product quality, and safety concerns.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- **Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or specialized certification is a plus/Botany
- **Experience**:

- Previous experience (typically 4-5 years) in a chemical manufacturing or fertilizer production environment is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, chemical analysis techniques, and production-scale processes.
- **Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of chemistry and chemical engineering principles, especially in relation to fertilizers and industrial chemical processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using lab instruments (e.g., spectrophotometers, titration equipment, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration with other departments.
- **Additional Skills**:

- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainable practices in the fertilizer industry.

**Working Conditions**:

- This position involves both office-based and on-site responsibilities within the plant environment.
- Some shift work and overtime may be required, particularly during peak production periods.
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required when working in the production areas.
