Swaminathan

Foundation aims to accelerate use of modern science for agricultural and rural

development for development and dissemination of technology to improve

lives and livelihoods of tribal and rural communities. MSSRF follows a pro-poor,

technology options to address practical problems faced by rural populations in

agriculture, food and nutrition.

The Foundation works in the areas of Natural Resource Management,
Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Food, Health, Nutrition and Livelihood Security and
Skill and Capacity Development using modern Information and Communication

Fish for All Research and Training Centre, a regional centre of MSSRF adopts a
holistic approach in fisheries resource management, sustainable livelihood
options and disaster preparedness and management. This centre functions as
training cum demonstration centre for strengthening existing and
diversification of livelihoods and identifying alternative avocation for coastal
communities by adopting participatory approach involving all the stakeholders
and associated multiple institutions.

**Essential Qualifications**: M.Sc. Marine Biology/ Marine Science/ Fisheries Science/ Environment
Science/ with good competence in oral and written communication in English
and Tamil

**Desirable Qualification and**:Knowledge on marine pollution, Marine Biodiversity conservation
**Experience **strategies

Familiar with on-sea trips and its data collection process

Basic computer knowledge with documentation, presentation and
reporting skill

Willingness to field work and travel

and implementing the project on “Minimizing the impact of ghost gears” and

assist the Principal Investigator in the following projects

Basic research on ghost gears accumulation and removal strategies

Baseline and end line data collection, analysis and reporting

Conducting Ghost gear drives in sea, selected islands and coastal region
by engaging the coastal fisher communities

Organizing capacity building workshops for fishers and various
stakeholders on ghost gear recovery strategy

Developing training manuals and tool kits

Building partnership for sustainability
