**A little bit about the role**:
ORBCOMM is a leading global provider of industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication solutions that remotely track, monitor and control fixed and mobile assets. We are looking for a vibrant and self-motivated **Sr. Database Administrator** that will support the DBA Team and will be in Hyderabad.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Design and implement database migration solutions from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
- Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Develop data migration strategies and plans to ensure seamless transition
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful migration and support ongoing database operations
- Ensure data integrity and security through proper access controls and encryption measures
- Assess the existing Oracle databases and gauge the complexity and estimate the efforts required for a migration
- Prepare data migration strategies and designs for each project, including plans to avoid downtime when required
- Perform migration of PL/SQL code that includes Packages, Procedures and Functions from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
- Manage and Maintian large critical production databases 11g, and 19c on-prem(ODA) and AWS cloud and OCI Cloud.
- Upgrading Database from lower version to 19c.
- Perform day to day Oracle administration tasks and perform troubleshooting on the databases.
- Database administration tasks include ensuring database availability, monitoring, maintenance, and operations
- Creating storage database structures with high-level security features.
- Setting up/managing database user accounts.
- Regularly updating the database security protocols.
- Implementing Disaster Recovery site and performing DR exercise using Oracle Dataguard.
- Automation of maintenance tasks using PL/SQL and scripting tools such as shell script.

**Desired Qualifications and Experience**:

- Significant background in creating complex stored procedures and SQL scripts in PostgreSQL.
- Hands on experience with installing and maintaining the Oracle database software.
- Good knowledge of Oracle architecture.
- Extensive experience with patching RDBMS, GRID, Client homes.
- Knowledge of partitioning large tables and exchange partitioning.
- Exposure to Oracle Multi-tenant architecture.
- Extensive experience on backup and recovery scenarios.
- Experience with RMAN cloning, PDB Cloning etc.
- Hands on experience with RAC, Data Guard and multitenant database.
- Experience with Goldengate bi-directional setups and maintenance.
- Knowledge on ExaCC is preferred.
- Experience with database monitoring and management tools such as Oracle EM Cloud Control.
- Knowledge and experience with analyzing and interpreting AWR, ASH and ADDM reports.
