Mould Designer

A mold designer is responsible for designing molds that are used to produce various products made of plastic, metal, or other materials. The job description of a mold designer may vary depending on the industry they work in and the specific products they design molds for, but generally includes the following responsibilities:
Analyzing product specifications and requirements to determine mold design parameters

Creating 3D models and 2D drawings of molds using computer-aided design (CAD) software

Collaborating with engineers and product designers to ensure that molds meet product requirements and design specifications

Identifying potential design or manufacturing issues and making necessary modifications to improve mold performance and durability

Conducting mold flow simulations to optimize mold design and prevent defects in the finished product

Coordinating with manufacturing teams to ensure that molds are produced according to design specifications and quality standards

Performing quality control inspections to verify that molds meet design specifications and product requirements

Maintaining accurate design records and documentation throughout the mold design process

In addition to technical skills and knowledge of CAD software and mold design principles, mold designers should have strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other members of the design and manufacturing teams. They should also have a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
