A pantry worker (sometimes called a pantry chef or cold kitchen assistant) supports kitchen operations by handling the preparation of non-cooked or lightly-prepared items like salads, sandwiches, beverages, and desserts.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Pantry Management**:
- Organize and stock pantry shelves with ingredients and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages.
- Rotate stock and ensure proper labeling and storage of food items.
- **Cleanliness & Sanitation**:
- Maintain cleanliness of the pantry, kitchen counters, and equipment.
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP).
- Dispose of waste properly and ensure clean work surfaces.
- **Assistance to Kitchen Staff**:
- Support chefs and other kitchen staff during food service.
- Refill serving lines with food items as needed.
- Help during busy hours with plating and basic food service tasks.
- **Utensil & Equipment Handling**:
- Clean and maintain kitchen utensils and appliances used in the pantry.
- Ensure all tools are sanitized and stored properly.
- **Customer Service (if applicable)**:
- Sometimes serve food at buffets or counters.
- Handle basic customer queries politely and efficiently.
- **Skills & Qualities**:
- Basic food prep knowledge
- Attention to detail and cleanliness
- Team player and good communication
- Ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of food safety standards
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹17,000.00 per month
