Staff Nurse Responsibilities
- Patient care: A staff nurse is responsible for the nursing care of their assigned patients, including general care, admission and discharge, bathing, feeding, and distribution of diets.
- Technical nursing: A staff nurse administers medication and injections, prepares injections, and records medications and injections. They may also perform technical procedures like enema catheterization and dressings.
- Communication: A staff nurse should be able to communicate professionally with patients, colleagues, and relatives.
- Emotional support: A staff nurse should provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
- Planning: A staff nurse should be able to plan and organize their workload to meet the needs of their patients.
- Collaboration: A staff nurse should collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide high-quality care.
- Supervision: A staff nurse may supervise nursing assistants and aides.
