- income communities in Mumbai & Pune. Our 4,600 alumni are on the path to living an empowered life. Today Akanksha runs 26 schools in partnership with governments of Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Navi Mumbai and Nagpur serving ~13,000 children in grades Jr Kg - Gr 10.

**Overview of the team** - Since its inception in 1996, the visual arts program at Akanksha has been seen as an essential part of education for children. Art for Akanksha’s mission is to provide a powerful art education for children within as well as beyond the Akanksha network, supporting and demonstrating the belief that art empowers. A powerful art education enables children to EXPRESS themselves by helping them LEARN a visual language to DISCOVER, CREATE and TELL their stories In 2024-25, Art for Akanksha went beyond the 13,000 students in the Akanksha network of 26 schools to reach 28000 children in 59 schools / centres through 60+ educators in govt schools and other non-profits

**Position - Associate / Sr. Associate - Art Training & Support**

**Position Summary**:

- The role of Associate / Sr. Associate, Pune is to strengthen art education in the Akanksha network through curriculum revisions, teacher development and introducing innovative opportunities and systems that build a deeper love for art among students.

**Specific responsibilities will include**:
1. Strengthening and deepening the quality of art in 6 to 7 Akanksha schools in Pune through:

- Classroom observations using a teacher development rubric followed by debriefs with the teacher and mentor
- Co-teaching, co-leading and modeling lessons in the classroom
- Supporting teachers in specific focus areas for the year and seeing a shift by the end of the year
- Check in calls with teachers every month for additional support.

2. Bringing strong teachers into the Akanksha network of schools by being a part of demos, interviews and observations and post recruitment, induction and orientation into our art pedagogy.

3. Co planning and executing professional development sessions for teachers every month. 4. Bringing in a variety of exposure opportunities for students through participation in events, murals, competitions, field trips, bringing artists in and taking art out and beyond the network.

5. Documenting and gathering photographs and videos of strong art class practices for social media and training purposes.

6. Supporting teachers with training talented students for Elementary and Intermediate Art Exams.

7. Assessing the impact of the art program through the execution of portfolios and reflection cards across schools.

8. Working as part of a team to make sure that Art for Akanksha's goals are met and collaborating with our teams where its required.

**What you need for this role**:

- 3-4 years of experience as an art teacher
- Ability to demonstrate a variety of strong pedagogical practices
- Clarity and understanding of art-related concepts
- Strong Oral and Written communication skills
- Good planning and organizing skills
- Collaborates with different members in the team
- Creatively thinks of solving different problems at work
- Self driven and motivated.

Pay: ₹450,000.00 - ₹660,000.00 per year
