India’s premier cultural institution in South Mumbai, is seeking to recruit Librarian/Archivist for The Stuart-Liff Collection at the NCPA and the Symphony Orchestra of India. The Stuart-Liff Collection at NCPA is an opera library housing over 11,000 LP records, 6,000 books, and 10,000 CDs, including several rare, unpublished recordings. One of the largest collections on the subject, it is a valuable resource for musicologists, students, and music lovers. Job Role: As the Librarian of the Stuart-Liff Collection, the candidate’s core responsibilities will be to create and maintain an up-to-date catalogue of all items in the Stuart-Liff collection; Supervise digitisation of records, as needed; work with western classical music team to make use of the collection and make it accessible to interested audiences, while developing the Stuart-Liff library a learning centre for western classical music. The candidate will also serve as archivist for the Symphony Orchestra of India, to document and archive of the activities of the Symphony Orchestra of India, including photos, videos, articles, etc. Candidate should have a presentable personality with a knowledge and appreciation of western classical music, in particular opera and vocal music. Good command of written and spoken English Technology-friendly and conversant with Microsoft office. Experience in library or archive management is beneficial.
