Position Summary:
To manage and ensure that the discharged effluent conforms to specifications and norms specified by the Pollution Control Board.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
PLANT AND MECHANICAL OPERATIONS
- Basic Knowledge of ETP and STP operations and processes
- Must have experience and knowledge of various waste water analysis based on standard methods
- Keeping records of analysis and doing statistical interpretation of parameter trend.
- Coordination with lab equipment suppliers for calibration and maintenance of lab equipments
- Internal calibration using standard solutions trouble shooting in case of equipments malfunctioning

LABORATORY OPERATIONS
- Charts lab test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analyses and test results.
- Evaluates data and writes reports as required.
- Collects samples and identifies concentrations of chemical, physical or biological characteristics of wastewater required in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Gathers and tests wastewater samples for plant efficiency reports as required in accordance with Local, State, and Federal requirements.
- Lab instrument calibration.
- Performs quality control tests on lab equipment and lab analyses.
- Evaluates procedures for analysis along with analysis schedule inline with OEM recommendation for stagewise
- Performs lab testing for wastewater which includes test parameters like COD, BOD’s, Oil & Grease, phosphates, total solids, total suspended solids, pH, ammonia, nitrates, chlorine residual, Sulphate, temperatures etc.
- Check STP water parameters, PH, TSS, COD, BOD, NH3-N, Total-N.
- Records daily flow of influent, waste and return sludge.
- Records dissolved oxygen levels at various locations in the facilities.

NEATNESS OF WORKPLACE
- Ensure that the walls, walkways and floors are clean at all times during production.
- Ensure that the equipment in ETP area is clean at all times.
- All waste is disposed of in the correct containers and is removed / emptied into the appropriate waste areas

MAINTENANCE & GENERAL DUTIES
- Report any defects in equipment performance to the Supervisor.
- Carryout simple adjustments to keep equipment running at optimal efficiency.
- Replace consumable parts as required and any other duties deemed reasonable.
- To perform any other reasonable work related tasks as instructed by the QC Manager.
- Assures that plant operates within required standards.
- Train other juniors in acceptable lab methods and procedures to assure accuracy of test results.
- Monitors performance of electrical systems, circuits or equipment of the treatment plant.

SAFETY
- Ensure all equipment / motor covers are fitted securely.
- No loose wires or electrical panels are open to the environment (Only engineers have access to electrical panels).

All floors are kept dry to minimize slips.

OTHER DUTIES
- Calibrate instruments in-house.
- Add new procedures, work instruction, formats in WWTP procedures.
- Attends training as necessary.
- Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

Competencies:
Critical TECHNICAL (Function-Specific) Competencies:

- He should have sound knowledge of lab equipment like COD apparatus, Ph meter, muffle furnace, BOD incubators and analyser, Moisture Analyzer, Balance, function of hot air Owen.
- He should have knowledge of basic testing procedures like various organic/inorganic compounds, COD, BOD, Ph, solids, Titration etc.
- He should have awareness regarding GMP practices
- Must have basic knowledge and experience to use computer, specifically MS office (Microsoft word, excel and power point)
