MBBS plus MD (Medicine)/ DNB (Medicine)/(Critical Care) and IDCC
- MBBS plus MD (Anaesthesia)/ DNB (Anaesthesia) and FNB (Critical Care)

**Experience**

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
**1. On Admission**
- After initial examination the Intensivist will receive the patient in the ICU / ICCU and request investigations and diagnose and prescribe treatment for the patient. In consultation with the treating doctors or by keeping the treating doctors in loop. Document the same in the patient’s IP case file.

**2. During the course of stay**
- Intensivist will document the patient’s condition with date and time regularly. Inform the treating doctor if there are any changes in the patient’s condition.
- Intensivist will document the reference for cross consultation with a brief clinical note and reason for reference and discuss with referred consultant telephonically or personally and document their opinion.
- Record reports of investigations in investigation chart, investigation done in other centers and result of procedures done in cath lab/OT (major & minor)/in situ.
- Chart the medication legibly (preferably with generic name) with strength, dose, frequency and mode of administration stated correctly. Their Signature must be affixed after the order.
- Changes in medication and line of treatment must be corroborated with reason in the case note.

**3. On Transfer/Discharge**
- Intensivist will write a Transfer out/Transfer in note when a patient is shifted from or to ICU/ICCU. After taking due consent in writing from the treating doctor.
- Transfer out/discharge patient must have the consent/authorization by consultant and the Intensivist must document the discharge order.
- Intensivist will ensure that the Consultant verifies it and signs the typed summary.
- Completion of the patient’s records with final diagnosis, procedures done and condition at discharge must be done as soon as discharge is advised.

**4. On Death**
- Death certificate - all columns must be filled carefully including demographic data. Cause of death is to be ascertained from the consultant and documented.

**5. Others**
- While signing for Narcotic Drugs, the KMC registration number is essential.
- Changes requested in the patient’s case record, discharge summary must be referred to the Associate Medical Director/Chief Administrator.

**6. Training**

a) To train all residents in Cardio Respiratory Resuscitation (CPR) and respond to a cardio respiratory arrest call anywhere in the Hospital and also to accompany the patients to other hospitals to carry out further investigations.

b) Intensivist will participate /conduct trainings actively in all CME programs, Research and Mortality and Morbidity meetings conducted by the organization
- Intensivist must, ensure compliance with all medico legal and quality requirements and continual improvement in patient care.
- Intensivist will participate in health awareness camps conducted by the Cardiac Centre.
- To follow and maintain all standards of quality as required by the organizational standards.
- To make antibiotic policies & protocols; to ensure that it is being followed in order to curb the indiscriminate use of high antibiotic.
- To follow departmental policies, procedures & objectives; & safety, environment & infection control standard.
