Data Architect

**Job Description Summary**: The Gas Power Data and Analytics team helps solve our customers' toughest challenges by leveraging data and analytics. The Sr Data & Information Architect will work as part of the Enterprise Data Architecture team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions from the Gas Power Data Lake and beyond, working across the Commercial Domain to help drive business outcomes. This position will work on multiple Data & Information projects as a project leader or internal consultant

As a Data Architect you will be part of a cross-disciplinary team working on development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include other Data Architects, Data Engineers, Product Managers and end users, working in concert with partners in GE business units. Potential areas for development could include any data set within the Power Data Lake or beyond but with a focus on delivering outcomes for the Commercial Domain.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

In this role, you will:

- Participates in the data domain technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction.
- Assists in the analysis, design and development of a roadmap, design pattern, and implementation based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
- Gathers and analyzes data and develops architectural requirements at project level.
- Participates in the Data Governance Council.
- Develops data models as Sources of Truth with focus on enabling Self Service
- Delivers data in a service-oriented architecture with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
- Follow development standards and best practices as well as Data Governance standards
- Researches and evaluates emerging data technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.
- Demonstrate proficiency in implementation of logical/physical data models
- Show good communication skills - both oral and written
- Coaches and mentors team members.
- Effectively monitor and control costs in the organization

**Education Qualification**

For roles outside USA:

- Bachelor's Degree in with basic experience.

For roles in USA:

- Bachelor's Degree in with minimum years of experience 2years

**Desired Characteristics**

**Technical Expertise**:

- Translates analytics problems into data requirements
- Understands logical and physical data models, big data storage architecture, data modeling methodologies, metadata management, master data management, data lineage & data profiling
- Understand & build in optimal manner extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Talend and AWS Services.
- Understands the technology landscape, up to date on current technology trends and new technology, brings new ideas to the team
- Exposure to Python, Spark is desirable
- Understanding of basic Data Science and Machine Learning concepts and the integration of ML model outputs into data pipeline is an added advantage
