CNC Operator Tool Room

Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Essential functions and responsibilities: Plans machining by studying work orders, specifications, engineering plans, materials, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters. Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. Programs mill by entering instructions, including zero and reference point; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces; adhering to company standards. Takes measurements; detects malfunctions; troubleshoots processes; adjusts and reprograms controls; sharpens and replaces worn tools; adheres to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Must follow company and OSHA safety procedures and all regulatory policies and procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the department supervisor. Attend meetings and training sessions as requested. Assist in training of new employees or employees learning new tasks. Be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up. Be able and willing to perform all duties, as assigned by supervisor as well as cross train in other areas. Must have ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
