Data Modeller

**Description** This position will design and implement data modeling solutions using relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases and test AWS Cloud solutions that support the Molex business. These solutions may involve diverse platforms, software, technologies and tools providing for a challenging and exciting environment. The position will be involved in all aspects of providing these solutions from design, development to implementation. The participant will not have direct reports but will be part of larger teams requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills with other technical groups as well as business leaders. Work closely with data architects, data analysts to design bespoke databases using a mixture of conceptual, physical, and logical data models. Individuals should be able to work with mínimal supervision and with general guidance as they deliver superior solutions to be used by the Molex business. **What You Will Do** - Working with Global functional and technical teams. - Working with data architects, data engineers and analysts to implement data modeling solutions in order to streamline and support enterprise information management for data engineering activities. - Analyzing and translating business needs into long-term solution data models. - Evaluating existing data systems. - Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows. - Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system. - Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility. - Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models. - Adopting best practices in the implementation and execution of DB maintenance processes. - Updating and optimizing local and metadata models. - Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency. Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems. - Challenging the status quo and focusing on long-term value when designing solutions - Data warehouse and data engineering concepts (ETL, near-/real-time streaming, data structures, metadata, and workflow management) - Participate as the data modelling resource on small to large projects using both waterfall and agile methodologies. - Maintaining system support documentation - Identifying and implementing process improvements - Utilizing strong problem solving and analytical skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills to discuss requirements, support, status updates, etc. to audiences with varying levels of IT knowledge **Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)** - Bachelor’s degree in technology related field - Minimum of 5 years IT experience - Minimum of 4 years hands on experience with DB like Snowflake, Redshift. - Experience with ERwin, ERStudio or similar modeling tools. - 3 years of hands-on experience with physical and relational data modeling. - Design of Conceptual, Logical and Physical models to represent business concepts. - Proficient in 3NF, Star Schema, Dimensional and Data Vault modeling techniques - In-depth knowledge of data warehousing, an understanding of database structures, design, theories and SCD (slowly changing dimensions) principles.Ability to collaborate with Data Engineers on data platform optimization and tuning. - Experience working with cloud-based environments - AWS Storage and Database services (S3, EC2, RDS, Redshift, Snowflake, Arora), Computing (Lambda, EMR) and AWS serverless services (Glue, Athena). - Design models that reduce data redundancy, streamline data movements, and improve enterprise information management. - Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools. - Advanced troubleshooting skills. - Prepare the Standard Operating Procedures with DB modelling. - Experience writing and troubleshooting scripts in Python, Bash on Linux.
