About this role
What is the opportunity?
We are recruiting for a newly formed Core Risk Management (Core RM) group, whose objective it is to advance risk management practices at BlackRock, delivering scale and resilience to the risk management platform. This opportunity is to join the Core Investment Risk Analytics team within Core RM, which will work with Investment Risk Managers and other BlackRock teams across the globe to solve business problems through data analytics, automation, and technology solutions. The team will deliver on demand risk analytics, data models and algorithms that enable risk management at scale and will comprise of data engineers, data / risk analysts and data scientists with strong coding skills.
Core RM is part of the Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group, which provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks globally.
What will you and your team be doing?
Collaborating with risk managers, technology and operations teams globally to deliver risk analytics and reporting solutions to inform risk management engagements across all of BlackRock’s Portfolio Management teams, leadership committees and boards.
- Following processes and procedures that build trust and are consistent with the best practices and policies of the firm.
- Developing strong working partnerships with investment risk manager, technology and operations colleagues and understanding their mission.
- Analyzing functional and technical requirements to re-engineer existing processes to deliver scale, best practice, and resilience to the risk platform, including changing code bases from VBA/R to Python.
- Acting as Business Analyst responsible for analytics-related specifications/ requirements, data and infrastructure planning and deploying analytics into production.
- Data analysis, including designing data models, running algorithms and scans.
- Data visualization, including developing risk analytics and insightful charts.
- Producing and scheduling risk analytics for use across Global Risk management teams, including supporting self-service for non-standard risk research.
- User acceptance testing risk models and analytics. Reporting findings and subsequent refinements.
- Providing regular and detailed production status reporting.
- Taking ownership of the quality of your output via data, production and report QC. Responding openly to feedback and initiating improvements as processes mature.

- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
- Flexible work schedule.
- 3+ years of experience in a Risk Management or Analytical Production division in a financial services firm.
- Some experience or a real curiosity about finance, investment, or quantitative processes.
- Programming (SQL, Python, etc.) and/or data analytics expertise.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or FRM certification and knowledge of Aladdin are a plus.
