**Job Description: Occupational Therapist**
Sukoon Health is building out India's first healthcare company that services acute Mental Health issues (Inpatient as well as Out-Patient). Sukoon Health will first focus on setting up a 1000+ beds chain for adult inpatient care across India. Over time, the company is expanding into other segments of de-addiction, child development disabilities, dementia care, etc. Sukoon is well-capitalized and seeking to grow rapidly.
Sukoon is Co-Founded by Vidit Bahri and Kanishk Gupta who have successfully operationalized three state-of-the-art facilities in New Delhi. Sukoon is headed by Saleem Asaria as Executive Chairman. Saleem has previously built and listed UK’s largest in-patient mental health care provider chain, Cambian, and prior to that had built and scaled UK’s largest senior living organization.
Sukoon is backed by the investment group Lightrock as the first investment in its upcoming mental holding company to create a global best-in-class mental health platform across the spectrum of care. Lightrock is a leading global impact investing platform specializing in growth-stage investments.
**About the role**
As an Occupational Therapist at Sukoon Healthcare, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive therapeutic services to patients struggling with mental health challenges. Your primary focus will be to assess, plan, and implement therapeutic interventions that promote independence, functionality, and overall well-being for individuals experiencing mental health issues. Your work will directly contribute to the recovery and rehabilitation of patients, enabling them to engage in meaningful activities and improve their quality of life.
**Responsibilities**
- **Assessment and Evaluation**:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial abilities and limitations.
- Identify patients' needs, goals, and potential barriers to recovery through comprehensive evaluations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to gather relevant information for treatment planning.
- **Treatment Planning and Implementation**:
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practices.
- Design interventions and activities aimed at enhancing patients' functional abilities, coping skills, and adaptive behaviors.
- Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions to address patients' mental health concerns effectively.
- **Therapeutic Interventions**:
- Implement a wide range of therapeutic activities to improve patients' physical strength, coordination, and cognitive functioning.
- Foster emotional regulation and coping strategies to assist patients in managing stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges.
- Introduce life skills training to support patients' successful reintegration into the community.
- **Patient Progress Monitoring and Documentation**:
- Regularly assess patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Document all interventions, progress notes, and evaluations in an accurate and timely manner, adhering to hospital guidelines and policies.
- **Interdisciplinary Collaboration**:
- Collaborate with the mental health team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
- **Family and Caregiver Education**:
- Educate patients' families and caregivers on how to support the therapeutic process and implement strategies at home to promote recovery.
- Provide resources and information to help caregivers understand the role of occupational therapy in mental health treatment.
- **Compliance and Ethical Practice**:
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards as outlined by relevant occupational therapy associations.
- Stay updated with the latest research and developments in mental health and occupational therapy to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
**Competencies**
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Specialization or additional training in mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a mental health setting or similar environment is an advantage.
