**Job Summary**:
The Staff Nurse provides direct patient care, administers medications, performs medical procedures, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care. They work in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and community health centers.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Patient Care**:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Assist in the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
- **Medication Administration**:
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Ensure proper dosage, timing, and documentation of medication administration.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to medications.
- **Medical Procedures**:
- Assist in medical procedures such as wound care, catheterization, IV insertion, and blood transfusions.
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room if necessary.
- **Patient Education**:
- Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment plans, and post-hospital care.
- Provide guidance on healthy lifestyle choices and preventive measures.
- **Collaboration**:
- Work closely with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- **Documentation**:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including nursing notes, care plans, and medication logs.
- Document patient care activities, changes in condition, and any incidents in compliance with hospital policies.
- **Compliance and Safety**:
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including infection control and patient safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- **Continuing Education**:
- Stay updated on the latest nursing practices, medical procedures, and healthcare regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**: Diploma or degree in Nursing (GNM, B.Sc. Nursing).
- **Licensure**: Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant jurisdiction.
- **Experience**: Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not always required.
- **Skills**:
- Strong clinical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and make quick decisions.
**Work Environment**:
- May involve working long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires physical stamina for tasks such as lifting patients and standing for extended periods.
