**Essential Job Functions**
- Counsels managers on moderately complex legal matters affecting their functional areas in order to increase employee understanding of legal processes and ensure that the company's legal position is maintained.
- Gathers legal information, conducts research and prepares and negotiates various legal documents including contracts and leases.
- Represents the company in legal matters that are moderately complex.
- Interacts with outside counsel, other legal personnel, technical experts, jury consultants, paralegals, support staff, and business unit representatives to facilitate compliance with company policies and procedures, and protect the company's legal position.
- Reviews legal data and advises and assists business unit representatives and managers on appropriate legal action to take.

**Basic Qualifications**
- Juris doctorate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- State bar admission
- Twelve or more years of legal experience in corporate environment, law firm or government agency
- Experience working with one or more areas of expertise: corporate law, securities law, communications law, government contracting, employment law, intellectual property law and contract law
- Experience working with automated legal research tools
- Experience working with company (client) business goals and strategies

**Other Qualifications**
- Good interpersonal skills for communicating with management, employees and third parties, including other legal counsels
- Strong communication skills
- Good organization and personnel management skills
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Good skills in conducting legal research
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
