A Social Protection Officer (SPO) in a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of healthcare services and addressing the social and economic barriers that prevent people from accessing medical care. Here are the key roles and responsibilities:
1. Outreach and Community Engagement
- Community Awareness: Conduct outreach programs to raise awareness about the services offered by the MMU.
- Community Mobilization: Encourage underserved or marginalized populations to access healthcare services.
- Needs Assessment: Identify vulnerable individuals or groups who require medical attention or social assistance.

2. Patient Support and Advocacy
- Facilitation of Services: Assist patients in navigating the medical services offered by the MMU.
- Advocacy: Act as a bridge between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring their needs are understood and met.
- Follow-Up: Ensure continuity of care by connecting patients to other health or social services if needed.

3. Data Collection and Reporting
- Documentation: Maintain records of beneficiaries, services provided, and follow-up actions.
- Monitoring: Monitor the impact of MMU services on the community and identify gaps.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates to supervisors and stakeholders on activities and outcomes.

4. Collaboration and Coordination
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Work closely with medical staff, social workers, and community leaders to deliver holistic care.
- Referral Services: Coordinate with government and non-governmental organizations for referrals and additional support services.

5. Education and Training
- Health Education: Conduct health promotion sessions on topics like hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Capacity Building: Train community volunteers or local leaders to support healthcare initiatives.

6. Crisis and Emergency Response
- Emergency Assistance: Identify and provide support to individuals affected by crises, such as natural disasters or epidemics.
- Mental Health Support: Provide initial psychosocial support to individuals in distress and connect them to specialized services if needed.

7. Policy and Compliance
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the services provided align with local health policies and guidelines.
- Ethical Practices: Uphold ethical standards in delivering services, respecting the dignity and confidentiality of beneficiaries.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Social Protection Officer ensures that the MMU serves as an effective tool for improving access to healthcare and addressing the social determinants of health in underserved communities.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month

Expected hours: 36 per week
