Sanas is building a world-first, real-time accent conversion platform. We have developed a solution with the help of the minds behind Shazam, Siri, and Nuance. Our first deployment horizon is centered on customer service centers to increase customer satisfaction and decrease average-handling time, training expenses, and turnover. With our machine learning algorithm, accent conversion can be done in real-time, resulting in increased understanding and decreased customer service costs.

We are a 50-person company founded in 2020 and quickly expanding We recently raised $32 million in Series A funding. With all this growth, we are looking for a Phonetician who specializes in Indian languages to join our Data & Analytics team. We are looking for a Phonetician who can analyze and narrow down on the top issues our models face, design metrics to evaluate model performance, and curate test-sets to track our models’ performance on synthesis.

**Responsibilities**
- Perform visual and auditory analysis of synthesized speech produced by various machine learning models to evaluate which model(s) should be brought into production.
- Assess the poorly performing phones/triphones in our machine learning model.
- Assemble reports to make actionable suggestions on improving model performance.
- Research on phonetics of languages native to new locations Sanas enters.
- Build corpora that hone in on specific accent differences.

**Must have**
- BS or MS in Linguistics/Computational Linguistics/Phonetics or a related discipline.
- 1-3 yrs experience with spectrographic analysis in Praat; Praatscript experience not necessary.
- Expert understanding of IPA.
- Ability to transcribe speech audio accurately and classify speech sounds by their linguistic features.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.

**Nice to have**
- Experience with basic programming and shell scripting; a background in Machine Learning is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- 1-3 years research experience; experience with L2 phonetics is a plus.
- Strong command of English and understanding of accents.
- Familiarity with non-IPA phonetic notation systems such as (X-)SAMPA.
- Experience working with diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Passionate about work, take ownership, and deliver results.
- Have led a team and coached junior team members on best practices.

**Salary**: ₹316,453.60 - ₹800,000.00 per year
