As a Barista at a hotel or resort, you will provide excellent coffee-based beverages and related customer service to guests in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, as well as other beverages such as tea, juices, and specialty drinks, ensuring high-quality standards. You will be the face of the coffee service in the establishment, and your role is critical in delivering an outstanding guest experience.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Prepare and Serve Beverages**:
- Make espresso-based drinks (latte, cappuccino, macchiato, etc.), brewed coffee, and other specialty drinks.
- Customize orders according to guest preferences (milk alternatives, flavorings, etc.).
- Ensure that beverages are presented with high quality, consistency, and in a timely manner.
- **Customer Service**:
- Greet guests warmly and make them feel welcome.
- Provide information on the coffee menu and suggest options based on guest preferences.
- Handle guest orders and requests efficiently while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Upsell additional items such as pastries, sandwiches, or snacks.
- **Maintain Cleanliness and Organization**:
- Keep the coffee station, equipment, and surrounding areas clean, organized, and sanitized throughout your shift.
- Refill supplies such as cups, lids, napkins, and coffee beans, and monitor stock levels.
- Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment as per the hotel’s or resort’s cleaning standards.
- **Operational Efficiency**:
- Monitor inventory and assist with stock ordering and rotation to ensure freshness.
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, ensuring proper brewing methods.
- Adhere to proper cash handling and transaction processes when processing guest payments.
- **Teamwork**:
- Work collaboratively with other team members, including servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff, to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Assist in training new baristas or support staff as needed.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss operational improvements, guest feedback, and service standards.
- **Guest Satisfaction**:
- Engage with guests, taking time to understand their preferences and creating a personalized coffee experience.
- Resolve guest complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner, escalating to management when necessary.
- **Health & Safety Compliance**:
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean and safe environment for both staff and guests.
- Ensure that all drinks are made following health and safety standards, with correct ingredient handling and temperature controls.
- **Sales & Upselling**:
- Promote the hotel or resort’s signature drinks or seasonal offers.
- Suggest food pairings or special deals to increase sales and enhance the guest experience.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- **Experience**:
- Previous experience as a barista, preferably in a hotel, resort, or café environment.
- Strong knowledge of coffee and espresso-based drinks, along with a passion for coffee culture.
- **Customer Service**:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests of diverse backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Familiarity with coffee-making equipment (espresso machines, grinders, etc.) and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to prepare drinks to meet customer expectations consistently.
- **Personality**:
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
- Enthusiasm for learning about new coffee trends and beverages.
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
- **Physical Requirements**:
