Cloud Solution Architect

Oracle’s A-Team is an elite group within Oracle Product Development is seeking a highly passionate Cloud Solution Architect to work in our Data Management and Analytics team. The position will be based in the UK but will involve working with customers and engineering globally.

The role is technical hands-on in nature and involves contributing to and nurturing multidisciplinary projects focused on architecting, designing, and prototyping complex cloud solutions that involve Oracle Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS); see requirements for specific areas of technical expertise required.

The position entails a high level of internal and external visibility with senior management, so having a proven ability to be emotionally aware, a considerate communicator with a careful approach to problem-solving is a critical soft skill that is needed.

The Cloud Solution Architect is responsible for carefully supporting complex engagements involving cooperation across teams and products, advising on the usage of Oracle's Cloud services and tools; coding innovative prototypes, and establishing a regular feedback channel into the Development organisation.

The position will also require short international travel (when it is safe to do so), to attend business meetings with customers, conferences, or internal meetings.

The ideal person will possess a considerate, kind, and sensitive approach to technical leadership with extraordinary attention to detail. She or he needs to have a cooperative approach project management with excellent tracking and reporting skills.

They will need an understanding of current Cloud technologies and products and are aware how sensitive market trends and emerging technologies add value to a customer solution.

**Typical duties and responsibilities will include**:

- Design complex and innovative technical solutions leveraging Oracle Cloud offerings to address critical business requirements of our customers.
- Assess cloud solutions either in pre-sales or post-sales stages and provide guidance using best practices to internal and external parties on design to ensure a successful implementation.
- Sympathetically manages competing, quickly changing priorities effectively, referred to as context shifting.
- Structure and execute plans for a given project in sensitive environments with a minimum of guidance.
- Closely collaborates with peers and a variety of teams and groups in a highly dynamic environment - Developers, Product Managers, Senior people, Pre-Sales, Consulting, Documentation, QA, among others.
- Identifies recurring patterns and solutions and generalise these for broader re-use across the entire ecosystem - Oracle, Partners, and Customers.
- Identifies common pain points in Oracle products/solutions and propose alternatives, where applicable to improve them.
- Prototypes, demos, and re-usable assets aimed at Product Development, Pre-sales teams, and post-sales teams; if you love to code, you’ll love this role.
- Establishes relationships and feedback channels into product management and product engineering ultimately resulting in product improvements and innovations.

**Required Experience**:

- Working knowledge of current Oracle SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS products and experienced in designing complex and large-scale cloud projects.
- Strong working knowledge with demonstrable experience in Oracle Analytics; Oracle Analytics cloud and Fusion Analytics Warehouse.
- Strong understanding of Cloud architecture and hybrid on-premises.
- PaaS and IaaS related technologies - such as Java, integration, mobile, security, storage, compute, and networking, will be an advantage.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with a quick learning style and a strong commitment to remain up to date with current technologies and trends.
- Exceptional empathy and critical reasoning skills capable of flexible and lateral thinking.
- You will have the ability to compassionately support technical discussions with customers, partners, and other Oracle teams.
- Highly developed interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills; demonstrated comfort level for presentations to senior leadership level meetings.

**Professional Skills Required**:
As a member of the Software Engineering division, you will take a dependable role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.

You will be able to define architectural specifications for significant planned and in-flight projects and be able to specify, design and develop solutions according to those specifications.
