**Job Title: Route Patroller - OFC Network (Metro Area)**
**Location: Chennai**
**Job Summary**:
The Route Patroller will be responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and maintaining the physical routes where the Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) is laid across the metro area. This includes routine patrolling, identifying potential threats to the network infrastructure, and reporting issues to the technical teams for prompt resolution. The patroller ensures the network's safety, preventing potential damages caused by third-party activities or natural events.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Daily Route Patrol**:
- Conduct routine patrols along designated OFC routes to inspect the condition of fiber optic cables.
- Identify physical threats or damages to the cable infrastructure (e.g., construction activities, excavation, road works, natural disasters).
- **Incident Reporting**:
- Report any identified issues (e.g., fiber cuts, potential damage risks, vandalism) to the Network Operations Center (NOC) or relevant technical teams.
- **Monitoring & Inspection**:
- Regularly inspect manholes, cable chambers, and junction points to ensure they are secure and in good condition.
- Monitor for unauthorized digging or construction near OFC routes.
- **Coordination with Teams**:
- Collaborate with network maintenance teams and contractors to ensure quick response to repair issues.
- Assist during emergencies like fiber cuts or damage by ensuring the technical team is guided to the precise location quickly.
- **Preventive Actions**:
- Implement preventive measures to safeguard the OFC, such as installing warning signs near vulnerable areas.
- Engage with local authorities or construction personnel to ensure network safety.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:
- Maintain a detailed log of daily activities, inspections, and incidents.
- Use tools such as mobile apps or GIS software for reporting and record-keeping.
- **Emergency Response**:
- Act as the first point of contact during any emergency or OFC-related incident, guiding repair teams to affected areas.
- Ensure minimum downtime by promptly reporting and facilitating the resolution process.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Educational Background**: High School diploma or relevant technical qualification in telecommunications or network management.
- **Experience**: 1-3 years of experience in route patrolling or network infrastructure maintenance, preferably in fiber optic networks.
- **Technical Knowledge**:
- Basic understanding of fiber optic cable structures and installation.
- Knowledge of local geography and OFC layouts in the metro area.
- **Physical Fitness**: Ability to walk or drive for extended periods while patrolling long network routes.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to notice small disturbances or potential threats to infrastructure.
- **Communication Skills**: Strong reporting and verbal communication skills to liaise with teams and third parties.
**Working Conditions**:
- Patrolling in both urban and suburban areas of the metro.
- Occasional work during nights, weekends, or emergencies based on network needs.
- Must be comfortable working in outdoor environments across different weather conditions.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
