- **Perform quality control**: Check medications for quality and safety
- **Stay current**: Keep up with new developments in medicine

Types of pharmacists
- **Community pharmacists**: Work in retail pharmacies, dispensing medications and educating patients
- **Clinical pharmacists**: Work in healthcare settings, providing direct care to patients and recommending medications
- **Consultant pharmacists**: Provide advice to hospitals, insurance companies, and other healthcare centers
- **Pharmaceutical industry pharmacists**: Work in research and development, sales, or marketing
