Roughing & Intermediate (R&i) Fitter

**Position Summary**:
The **Roughing & Intermediate Fitter** is responsible for the mechanical upkeep, installation, and alignment of equipment in the **Roughing and Intermediate sections** of the Rolling Mill. The role ensures smooth operation and mínimal breakdown of mechanical components in these critical stages of rolling.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Rolling Stand Maintenance**:

- Install and align roughing and intermediate stands as per rolling schedule.
- Carry out daily stand preparation, checking chocks, bearings, and keys.
- Replace rolls and adjust guides according to product size and mill setup.
- **Mechanical Equipment Handling**:

- Maintain gearboxes, couplings, loopers, roller tables, and shears in R&I zones.
- Inspect and replace worn-out parts during shutdowns and regular maintenance.
- **Troubleshooting & Repair**:

- Attend to breakdowns quickly to minimize production loss.
- Diagnose issues in rotating equipment, perform adjustments, and reassemble components.
- **Preventive Maintenance**:

- Execute routine maintenance tasks as per schedule.
- Check for vibrations, misalignments, and temperature abnormalities.
- **Coordination**:

- Coordinate with operators and control room for timing maintenance jobs.
- Report abnormalities to the Mechanical Supervisor or Engineer for corrective action.
- **Safety & Compliance**:

- Follow all safety protocols during maintenance and operations.
- Ensure lockout/tagout and PPE compliance at all times.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain daily logbooks of maintenance activities.
- Report spare requirements and participate in tool and inventory management.

**Qualifications & Skills Required**:

- **Educational**: ITI in Fitter Trade or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- **Experience**: 3-8 years (for fitter) in Rolling Mill maintenance, specifically in R&I stands.
- **Technical Knowledge**:

- Understanding of mechanical drawings and mill layout.
- Familiar with stand changing, roll changing, coupling alignment, and basic welding/fabrication.
- **Other Skills**:

- Team coordination, discipline in shift work, and problem-solving attitude.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Rotational shift
