Job Description

The Tax Assistant is responsible for proper and reliable tax accounting, tax reporting and tax compliance process in the relevant jurisdiction or geographical area. This includes supporting the (Regional) Tax Manager in managing tax audits and tax queries for operating entities in the region and to promote Fugro Group tax compliance.
- Key Responsibilties:

- Support and review entity controllers on proper booking of tax entries, including preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Preparation / Review and analysis of tax related disclosures in financial statements.
- Preparation of quarterly tax reports (HTP/ Tagetik).
- Improvement of tax calculation model and supporting instructions.
- Preparation/ Review of deferred tax computations.
- Review and/or prepare the direct/indirect tax returns for the entities in the relevant geographical area including supervision of external advisors dealing with outsourced tax returns.
- Control of direct/indirect tax (including VAT/ GST) compliance process.
- Focus on thorough communication with members of the Finance and Tax departments at local and regional level, creating awareness and ensuring that the impact of Tax is included in all relevant bookkeeping entries.
- Initiate and drive improvement projects, setting up new control / measurement systems to manage overall tax compliance.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the Tax accounting and Tax reporting process and alignment with other Finance close processes.
- Working with the (Regional) Tax Manager on specific tax related projects in the relevant geographical area

Experience and Knowledge
- Bachelors degree in Commerce (some certified course in Tax preferred)
- Chartered Accountant - India/ other
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Competencies
- Tax and financial knowledge - Knowledge of Tax and other tax reporting requirements. Willingness to expand to other fields of taxation.
- Environment and relationship management - Ability to work in a multinational environment, proper social skills and persuasiveness. Hands-on mentality and team player.
- Project Management - Project management skills, ability to plan and prioritize work under strict deadlines.
- Integrity, Trustworthy, Commitment, Risk - Being reliable and trustworthy towards stakeholders throughout the group. Being able to accept and deal with pressure in difficult circumstances.
- Teamwork and cooperation - Be a committed team player towards stakeholders throughout the Group, including Tax and Finance stakeholders.
