**Role Title: Application DBA (PostgreSQL) with SQL Server Exposure**

**Location: Gurgaon, Haryana**

**Employment Type: Permanent**

**Reporting to IT organization: IT Team, DTE**

**Purpose to hire this position: Application DBA (PostgreSQL) with SQL Server Exposure**

**Technical Experience**:

- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with PostgreSQL databases, with a focus on query optimization and database performance tuning.
- Experience with SQL Server and basic query optimization on SQL Server databases.
- Expertise in writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
- Knowledge of indexing, query execution plans, and other optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in working with performance monitoring and tuning tools such as pg_stat_statements, EXPLAIN ANALYZE, and pgAdmin.
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for query automation and monitoring.
- Familiarity with cloud databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure) is a plus.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Database Query Optimization**:

- Implement indexing strategies, partitioning, and other techniques to boost database performance.
- Identify and troubleshoot slow-running queries and provide recommendations for query refactoring.

**Collaboration with Application Teams**:

- Participate in code reviews, offering guidance on SQL query design and database interactions.
- Proactively suggest improvements to database usage patterns during development cycles and across various teams.
- Act as a liaison between the development and database teams, ensuring smooth database integration and optimal performance.

**Database Performance Tuning**:

- Continuously monitor and assess database performance and provide solutions to bottlenecks.
- Conduct regular reviews of database usage patterns and optimize the performance of frequently used queries and stored procedures.
- Use performance monitoring tools (e.g., pg_stat_statements, pgBadger, SQL Server Profiler) to track and resolve performance issues.

**SQL Server Exposure**:

- Support development teams with query optimization and troubleshooting for SQL Server databases as needed.
- Provide performance tuning and query analysis on SQL Server, working on improving

**Data Design and Modeling**:

- Collaborate in designing and maintaining database structures, including tables, views, and relationships to ensure optimal performance.

**Automation and Scripting**:

- Develop scripts to automate query analysis and performance tuning processes.
- Build tools for monitoring query performance, resource usage, and database efficiency.

**Documentation**:

- Maintain comprehensive documentation related to query optimization, database structures, and best practices for interacting with the database layer.

**Secondary Skills**:

- Agile process knowledge will be an added advantage.

**Educational Qualification**:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related information technology
