**What is the Role?**

As a Maritime Incidents Assessor, you will play a crucial role in managing third-party maritime incidents, supporting HSSE dashboards, and contributing to HSSE metrics projects. You will also be involved in developing and implementing a new Incidents framework and participating in projects that shape the future of maritime assurance.

Your work with incidents data will be vital in assessing the quality of all internationally trading tankers, dry bulk carriers, and project vessels proposed for use by Royal Dutch Shell Group Companies. This ensures Shell avoids using or being associated with sub-standard ships, thereby minimizing risks such as:

- Harm to people or the environment
- Damage to Shell’s reputation
- Financial claims on Shell

These activities span across Crude, Products, LNG, and Specialty businesses. You will engage both internally and externally, fostering a spirit of partnership.

This role calls for decisive individuals who will be responsible for classifying all incidents, including regional ones. You will ensure the quality and accuracy of incident analysis data and serve as the interface between SAFE and Technical

Operators for incident management trending and analysis.

We will entrust you with the responsibility of positively assuring Shell’s Maritime activities by effectively closing out maritime incidents. This role significantly impacts Shell’s reputation in the maritime industry.

As a Maritime Incidents Assessor, you will share your HSSE and maritime expertise across all areas of Maritime Assurance and beyond. Working both independently and as an integral part of a team, you will thrive on collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders.

**What We Need from You?**
- Chief Officer (Deck) or 2nd Engineer Officer on ocean-going tankers (LNG, LPG, Chemical, Crude, Products) with at least 3 years of sea time as an officer. Ideally, you have obtained a Master/Chief Licence **OR**
- Have over 2 years of shore-based experience and hold a BSc Degree.
- You will bring recent operational or business experience that can be utilized to manage current and emerging maritime risks in safety, compliance, and environmental performance.
- You should have an HSSE mindset with an understanding of incident management.
- A solid understanding and previous experience in project management is essential.
- Knowledge of causal investigation methodology or equivalent root cause incident analysis, or a willingness to work towards suitable qualifications, is required.
- Familiarity with Power BI dashboards is a plus.
- You should be able to analyse data to identify trends.
- The ability to mentor others in developing their incident investigation and analysis skills is important.
- Evidence of your resilience and ability to successfully manage challenges and conflicts is crucial.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills are a must.
