**Roles and Responsiblities**
- **Conduct comprehensive eye exams**: This includes assessing vision, eye health, and overall eye function.
- **Diagnose and treat vision problems and eye diseases**: Identifying conditions like nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, glaucoma, and cataracts.
- **Prescribe corrective lenses**: Providing eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other vision aids.
- **Educate patients on eye care**: Providing guidance on maintaining good eye health, wearing contact lenses, and recognizing signs of eye problems.
- **Refer patients to specialists**: When necessary, referring patients to ophthalmologists for surgical or other specialized medical care.
- **Maintain accurate patient records**: Keeping detailed records of patient examinations, diagnoses, and treatments.
- **Assist in minor eye surgeries**: In some cases, optometrists may assist in minor surgical procedures.
- **Provide optometric counseling**: Advise patients on vision problems and eye care.
