**SS Welder (Stainless Steel Welder)**

**Role**: An SS Welder specializes in welding stainless steel materials using various techniques such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) or MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding. They work in industries where stainless steel is used for its corrosion-resistant properties, such as in construction, manufacturing, automotive, and food processing.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Welding Stainless Steel**:

- Perform welding tasks on stainless steel components using appropriate welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG).
- Ensure high-quality welds that meet safety and engineering standards.
- **Reading Blueprints & Drawings**:

- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand welding specifications and the required weld type.
- **Preparing Materials**:

- Cut, grind, and prepare stainless steel surfaces before welding.
- Clean metal surfaces to remove contaminants like oil, rust, and scale.
- **Quality Control**:

- Inspect welds for strength, consistency, and adherence to quality standards.
- Perform tests such as visual inspection and non-destructive testing (e.g., x-ray, ultrasonic) to ensure weld integrity.
- **Safety Compliance**:

- Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents, including wearing protective gear (gloves, face shields, welding helmets).
- Work in accordance with industry safety standards and regulations.
- **Equipment Maintenance**:

- Maintain welding equipment and tools to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform routine checks on welding machines, and repair or replace damaged parts when necessary.
- **Documentation**:

- Keep accurate records of welding processes, including materials used, test results, and production details.

**Tinker (General Role)**

**Role**: A Tinker is someone who works with tools and machinery to modify, repair, or improve mechanical or electrical systems. They often work in fields such as fabrication, manufacturing, or maintenance and might focus on creating or fixing mechanical devices or structures.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Tool and Equipment Management**:

- Use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble, repair, or modify mechanical devices, systems, or parts.
- Select and maintain tools needed for specific tasks.
- **Problem Solving and Repairs**:

- Diagnose mechanical or electrical issues and come up with effective solutions.
- Perform repairs on machines, devices, or structures to restore them to proper working order.
- **Prototype Creation and Design Modifications**:

- Design and build prototypes or experimental machines to meet specific requirements.
- Tinker with existing designs, creating new or improved products by modifying their parts or functionality.
- **Welding and Fabrication**:

- In some cases, a Tinker may also be responsible for basic welding or metalwork as part of their repair or fabrication tasks.
- **Testing and Quality Control**:

- Test prototypes or repaired systems to ensure they function properly and meet design specifications.
- Make necessary adjustments and improvements based on test results.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Record modifications, repairs, and any observations made during the tinkering process.
- Communicate the outcomes or issues with higher-level engineers or supervisors.
- **Safety Practices**:

- Follow all relevant safety protocols to avoid accidents or injury.
- Ensure that equipment is used properly and maintained to prevent hazards.
- **Continuous Improvement**:

- Stay up-to-date with new tools, techniques, and technologies to improve efficiency and quality.
- Learn from mistakes and successes to improve future tinkering and projects.
