**Job Summary**:
The Physican Billing Associate is responsible for ensuring that healthcare providers receive timely payments for services rendered. This role involves communicating with insurance companies to follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Contact insurance companies to check the status of outstanding CMS-1500 claims.
- Ensuring timely payment of claims for physician services.
- Investigating reasons for claim denials or rejections.
- Working with payers to get denied claims corrected and reprocessed.
- Interpreting **Explanation of Benefits (EOB)** or **Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)** documents to understand payer decisions.
- Identifying underpayments, overpayments, or missing payments.
- Making necessary corrections to CMS-1500 claims and resubmitting.
- Preparing appeal letters and documentation when needed.
- Keeping accurate records of all payer interactions and status updates.
- Reporting trends in denials or delays to billing managers.
**Qualifications**:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred).
- 2-4 years of experience in Physician billing, with emphasis on CMS1500 claim processing.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance guidelines.
- Familiarity with EHR and billing systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner,).
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
