Job SummaryThe Game Design Faculty role is focused on equipping students with the creative and technical skills needed to excel in the game industry. This position plays a crucial role in fostering innovation, critical thinking, and hands-on experience in game mechanics, level design, storytelling, and user engagement. Success in this role involves creating an engaging learning environment, mentoring students, staying updated with industry trends, and collaborating with peers to enhance the curriculum and strengthen the department’s industry connections.Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and hands-on sessions covering game mechanics, level design, storytelling, user experience (UX), and prototyping.
- Train students in industry-standard game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and design tools like Blender, Photoshop, and Figma.
- Guide students through the game development pipeline, from conceptualization to prototyping and final execution.
- Integrate playtesting methodologies and user research to help students refine game experiences.
- Collaborate with faculty and industry professionals to keep the curriculum aligned with the latest advancements in game design, VR, AR, and AI in gaming.
- Mentor students on individual and group projects, emphasizing innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Establish industry connections for guest lectures, internships, and collaborative projects.
- Evaluate student progress through project-based assessments, providing constructive feedback.
- Participate in department meetings, industry events, and university initiatives to contribute to academic excellence.

**Qualifications**:

- Required Skills and Knowledge:

- Strong understanding of game design principles, including game mechanics, systems design, and interactive storytelling.
- Proficiency in industry-standard game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine) and scripting languages like C# or Python.
- Experience with level design tools, prototyping, and playtesting methodologies.
- Knowledge of UI/UX principles in games and player psychology.
- Familiarity with VR/AR game development is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.

**Education**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Game Design, Interactive Media, Animation, or a related field.
- Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience in game design or development is an advantage.

**Experience**:

- 3-5 years of industry experience in game design, development, or interactive media.
- Teaching or mentoring experience in higher education is preferred.
- Certifications:

- Certifications in Unity, Unreal Engine, or game design methodologies are a plus.
