**Job Specification - Clinical Coding Specialist**:
**Overview**:

- This individual will provide expertise in clinical coding to support development of AI algorithms to augment manual review and clinical coding activities
- Is an expert clinical coder, with strong experience in ICD10CM coding
- Has strong familiarity with coding rules and guidelines

**Supports NLP team in producing product, workflow and NLP rules that have excellent market fit for clinical coding**:

- Provide weekly guidance, review and support to these teams
- Participate in sprint planning and review
- Prioritise development tasks to get to highest quality MVP in fastest time

**Provide specific insights to help with development of HCC risk adjustment NLP workflow**:

- Advise on coding best practice and how to incorporate this in the NLP review process
- Support identification of pain points for coders using technology to assist their processes
- Advise on the expectations of HCC coders
- Advise on best practices for HCC coding
- what to code
- what not to code
- how this might differ for semi-automated coding
- provides guidance into MEAT criteria for each code
- Comment on examples which have been coded inconsistently

**Education, experience & skills**:

- RN, RHIA, RHIT, MD or DO with CCS. CCDS and CRC accreditation not mandatory but beneficial
- 3+ years’ experience required working in ICD10CM coding (CDI, Risk adjustment)
- ICD10-CM, Risk adjustment, Clinical Documentation Improvement, computer assisted coding, computer assisted physician documentation
- Experience using NLP on medical records for computer assisted coding tasks desirable but not necessary
- Experience in data annotation related to ICD10CM coding desirable but not necessary
- Good computer skills and the ability to use business support software
- Good resource planning skills
- Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
