Job Title: Horticulture Intern
Department: Horticulture / Design & Implementation
Reports to: Project Manager/Director
Duration: 6 months
Job Role Summary:
The Horticulture Intern will support the team in plant research, garden planning, site visits, and maintenance evaluations. The intern will gain hands-on experience in sustainable landscaping practices, plant selection, and garden management under the guidance of experienced horticulturists and landscape designers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying plant species suitable for various landscapes, climates, and soil conditions.
- Support in preparing planting plans and plant palettes for client projects.
- Participate in site visits to monitor plant health and recommend care practices.
- Help with research on native and drought-tolerant plants.
- Contribute to educational content on gardening best practices.
- Maintain plant inventory databases and update documentation.
- Assist with organizing workshops or community garden events, if applicable.
Learning Opportunities:
- Exposure to real-world landscape consulting and design processes.
- Knowledge of regional horticultural practices, native flora, and sustainable gardening.
- Practical experience in garden planning and maintenance supervision.
Eligibility & Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree/diploma in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of plant care, soil science, and pest management.
- Interest in sustainable gardening and landscape design.
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with MS Office; knowledge of plant identification apps or design software is a plus.
