**Job Summary**

We are seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The role involves meticulously reviewing and coding medical records to ensure accurate and compliant billing and documentation. The Medical Coder plays a crucial role in converting healthcare services into standardized codes for insurance reimbursement, data collection, and compliance purposes.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Medical Coding**:

- Review and analyze medical records, including physician notes, lab results, and patient histories.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services based on established coding guidelines.
- Ensure accurate coding for claims submission and compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations.

**Documentation Review**:

- Verify that documentation supports the assigned codes and includes all necessary information.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information as needed.

**Claims Management**:
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government programs.

Monitor claims to ensure timely payment and address any coding or billing issues promptly.

**Compliance and Quality Assurance**:
Stay updated with coding guidelines, regulations, and payer policies.

Conduct periodic audits to maintain coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

**Reporting**:
Generate and review coding reports to track accuracy, productivity, and financial performance.

Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements based on data analysis.

**Collaboration**:
Work closely with healthcare providers, billing departments, and insurance companies to resolve coding and billing issues.

Participate in training sessions to stay informed about coding practices and healthcare regulations.

**Qualifications**

**Education**:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or related field preferred.

**Certifications**:
Certification from recognized coding organizations such as AAPC or AHIMA preferred (e.g., CPC, CCS).

**Experience**:
Prior medical coding experience preferred but not required for entry-level positions. Relevant internships or coursework beneficial.

**Skills**:

- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.

**Other Requirements**:
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
