- **Referrals**: Recognizing problems and referring customers to other medical practitioners

Beauticians should be highly skilled, service-oriented, and stay up to date on beauty trends and techniques. They should also ensure compliance with sanitation standards. To become a beautician, you usually need to obtain a license to practice as a beautician or cosmetologist. Some beauticians study at specialized trade schools to learn a variety of beautification techniques.
