A quality control (QC) chemist's responsibilities include:

- Testing: Testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure quality standards are met
- Documentation: Preparing reports on test results and findings
- Safety: Following safety procedures and handling hazardous materials safely
- Maintenance: Cleaning, maintaining, and storing testing tools and equipment
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with federal standards and regulations
- Research: Developing new chemical formulations and processes
- Support: Providing support services to lab technicians and other staff
- Investigation: Investigating abnormalities or non-compliant results
- Representation: Representing QC in cross functional and site product meetings
- Scheduling: Participating in scheduling, visual management, metrics, and continuous improvement activities

QC chemists should have strong analytical technique in chemical testing and instrumental methods of analysis. They may also need experience with R Language, **HPLC,** HACCP, and enterprise resource planning.
