Department
You will be part of Manufacturing Operation-India, Global Supply Chain, Cement who supports Capital and Service for Materials, Warehouse & Logistics. By joining this team, you will have the chance to work in an international environment involving different cultures and different challenges. This department works closely with both our internal and external customers to ensure FLSmidth equipment’s on time delivery and customer satisfaction. You will be located in the Arakkonam plant.

Role
The Welder role at Arakkonam involves the ‘Pperforming basic welding tasks in the manufacturing process, including preparing materials, executing welds, and assisting higher-level welders in completing fabrication projects.’

Your Responsibilities
- Perform basic welding operations (e.g., tack welding, spot welding) under supervision.
- Work with standard welding processes such as MIG, TIG, or arc welding, as required.
- Assist in preparing materials for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and positioning.
- Perform basic inspections on welds to ensure they meet minimum quality standards.
- Report any defects or issues to senior welders or supervisors.
- Ensure tools and equipment are stored properly after use.
- Assist higher-level welders in completing complex projects by providing materials, tools, or other support.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met.

Key Accountabilities
- Set up welding equipment and ensure it is functioning correctly before use.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of welding tools and equipment.
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents.

What you bring
- Ability to read and interpret simple technical drawings or instructions.
- Basic understanding of welding processes and materials.
- Willingness to learn and improve welding skills through hands-on experience and guidance.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at various heights.
- Prolonged standing, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Comfortable working in high-temperature and noisy environments.
- Workshop or manufacturing floor with exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and heavy machinery.
- Use of PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, and safety boots, is mandatory.

Education Qualification
ITI or Diploma or equivalent. Basic welding certification or enrollment in a welding training program is preferred.

Experience
0-2 years of experience in welding or a related field. Basic knowledge of welding tools, techniques, and safety practices.
