Dietician

Dieticians provide dietary advice to help people lead healthy lives and manage their health conditions. They educate and give practical and personalised advice to clients and patients.

Dieticians work with clients and patients to address health concerns and provide personalised nutritional advice. They conduct nutritional assessments that involve collecting patients' histories, backgrounds and health data. They diagnose health problems and provide nutritional intervention while considering a patient's health status, risk factors, environmental conditions and nutrition-related behaviour. These interventions involve dietary changes, nutritional supplementation or exclusion diets. They also perform nutritional reassessments to make adjustments or revisions to goals.

One of the key responsibilities of a dietician is to assist patients with food intolerances, allergies and insensitivities. They perform various tests to determine if a patient's symptoms relate to a food allergy, intolerance or insensitivity. They help clients read food labels, understand potential meals containing allergens, and manage their diet accordingly. Dieticians also empower patients and their families to manage their health by understanding how to shop for groceries and prepare meals. They also provide clients with snacking ideas, cooking tips, recipe modifications and meal prep guidance.
